Applying to multiple credit cards at the same time
TL;DR: Don’t do it. I think it can be tempting to want to apply to multiple credit cards on your credit card wish list at the same time, especially if you’ve been pre-approved and/or your credit score is high enough. Speaking from personal experience, I tried this once where I applied to 3 on the same night. I got instantly approved to my first one. I got approved after a couple days to my second one, with a significant cut in my credit limit. My third credit card was approved after a week and the credit limit was just $500. My credit score also cratered 40 points to a place…

Getting way more 5% categories
TL;DR: Eh, going to make you read this one. So, there’s a bunch of credit cards that give 5% back. For no fee credit cards, that’s essentially the best rate you’re going to find. The problem is, it’s always in some specific category, or rotating categories. You’re never going to have 5% back on all categories. Or are you? US Bank is a card where they have a bunch of 5% categories, and you get to choose two every quarter. They’ve got some pretty good ones, I’ve chosen ground transportation (Uber, Lyft etc) and Movies. But I can’t choose them all. So here’s the secret. I called in, and they…

$10 Lyft credit for every 5 rides
TL;DR: Enroll with Lyft to get $10 back for every 5 rides you pay with a World Elite Mastercard. Lyft‘s now offering $10 in Lyft credit for every 5 rides within a month you pay with a World Elite Mastercard. Recommended cards in this category are the Citi Double Cash, and the CapitalOne SavorOne cards. There are others too, so check your wallet! Of course, I’d still compare the prices of Uber vs. Lyft in your area (as this benefit is worth a maximum of $2 per ride), but this is a great bump if you’re used to using Lyft. Don’t forget to compound your earnings with Drop and Freebird!…

3% back categories
TL;DR: This new, no fee Bank of America credit card gives you 3% back on a category of your choice. Bank of America came out with a credit card whose main feature is 3% back on your choice of these categories: gas, online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores, or home improvement/furnishings on your first $2,500 spent per quarter. Realistically, it’s more like your choice on these 3 categories: online shopping, drug stores, or home improvement/furnishings, since Duck’s Unlimited has you covered on gas and the Uber Credit Card or the Propel Card would have you covered on dining + travel. There’s no annual fee, and the welcome bonus is $200…

3%-4% back on Entertainment
TL;DR: Get 3% back on entertainment spending when you use Capital One’s SavorOne card, or get 4% back with Capital One’s Savor card (which comes with an annual fee). Capital One recently launched their Savor and SavorOne credit cards. Their main feature is that they give 3% and 4% respectively on dining and entertainment. They also give 2% back on groceries and 1% on any other purchase. Given that other cards like the Uber visa card give 4% back on Restaurants, the exciting new thing is Entertainment. That’s defined, as described on their website: This is a great way to boost up cash back in another category not really touched by other credit cards. Other differences between Savor and SavorOne: the Savor has a $95 annual fee (waived for first…

Uber credits: A guide
TL;DR: An update on getting cash back on Uber Credit Cards. One of the US Bank Cash+ credit card’s 5% categories is ground transportation, which includes Uber and Lyft. If you’d want to use other categories there instead, you can also opt for the Wells Fargo Propel Card which gives 3% back on Ubers, or 4.5% when redeemed for airfare if you use it in conjunction with the Wells Fargo Visa Signature. FreeBird. Download this app to get 250 points per ride (this is $0.5. They’ve cut it down since they started), along with $4 if you’re riding to one of it’s partner restaurants. You get $5 twice a week if you’re riding back home. Use code b2183…

Credit Cards: The Wells Fargo Trifecta
TL;DR: Get all 3 Wells Fargo credit cards to enjoy higher cash back rates. We’ve already talked about the Wells Fargo Propel Card, which offered 3% back on restaurants, travel, Uber/Lyft, and streaming services. The Wells Fargo Cash Wise card is similar to the Citi Double Cash but only offers 1.5% cash back. But here’s the kicker. These points are all collected as Go Far Rewards, and with the Wells Fargo Visa Signature card you can redeem these points for 50% more value when redeemed for airfare. That means the Propel Card essentially gives 4.5% back on all those categories, and the Cash Wise card gives 2.25% back on everything…

More on the 5% series: Target
TL;DR: Target’s REDcard lets you save 5% on Target purchases. If you’re anything like me and you have a Target nearby that you spend too much money at… Target’s REDcard will let you feel 5% better about buying all those things you get there. You can use this on top of the Target app, where you could receive more savings. Just one more card to add to boost your cash back 🙂 Happy Target’ing! TheJKW
