Travel

TL;DR: Quadruple dip on rewards with Lemoney, Expedia, Airline Rewards, and your Credit Cards.

Just like for food, free rewards don’t stop at 3% back with your new Uber credit card!

Maximize your savings with every flight with these steps.

Step 1: Use Lemoney to get $10.65 back!

Lemoney gives you $2.25 every time you click through the website to Expedia to purchase a flight (more if you do other things!). Assuming your flight costs more than $60, once a month, you’ll get another $8.40 to make that $10.65 off. For reference, if you had a $200 flight, that’s 5.3% cash back!

There are other popular alternatives like Mr. Rebates or Ebates, but Lemoney has been the best one I’ve found so far.

Step 2: Use Expedia to get 0.2-0.4% back

Expedia is a simple website where you can find and manage all your travel plans. Flights earn 1 point per $5 spent, which is worth 0.2-0.4 cents each. (There are lots of sites that offer the same services but they are rumored to all work the exact same way…)

Step 3: Sign up with your Airlines’ Rewards Programs

Almost all airlines have an awards program where you can earn miles for purchasing flights. These average out to about 1.5% back in points, which you can redeem for other travel purchases. If you fly frequently through these programs, they can also offer elite statuses with extra perks.

Here are some common ones:

  • American Airlines
  • JetBlue
  • United Airlines
  • Spirit

Step 4: Using your Credit Card

Top it all off by earning 3%+ back with your credit card!

The best part about all of this is that again, these steps require minimal effort and work for almost any flight purchase. However, you can still hunt for deals with Expedia or Groupon to really get the most bang for your buck!

Happy Flying!
