Credit Cards
TL;DR:
Get the Citi Double Cash Credit Card.
It gives 2% back on all your purchases, and no annual fee. Literally everything. It’s the best general card.
Here are the list of credit cards I’d suggest you have as general advice. You should have them all, as they complement each other. These all have 0 annual fees.
Cards | Pros | Cons |
---|---|---|
Citi Double Cash | 2% Cash back on everything Making disputes on this card is super easy | You need an above average credit score to qualify |
Uber Credit Card | 4%+ off restaurants 3% off flights, hotels, vacation home rentals No foreign transaction fees There’s other stuff | |
Amazon Chase Credit Card | 5% off Amazon and Whole Foods (3% without prime) No foreign transaction fees | |
Discover Credit Card | 5% off rotating categories $20 a year for being a good student No foreign transaction fees Your credit score doesn’t need to be very high for this card. It's a great starter card for students! | Not accepted everywhere like Visa/Mastercard |
We’ll go more in depth in these and other potential credit cards in future articles.
Also keep in mind:
- Applying for credit cards initially has a negative impact on your credit score, but in the long run is helpful.
- The 5/24 rule. Some Chase cards (like the Chase Sapphire Reserve), won’t accept you if you’ve gotten 5 or more credit cards in the last 24 months
Go get’em!
