Ask for your $$ back
TL;DR: Don’t be afraid to ask for $$ back when you want to dispute credit card charges.
For the most part, it seems like most cards put 0 liability on consumers for charges they aren’t responsible for.
Definitely when there are fraudulent charges, you have to contact your credit card company to help you out.
But if you also simply feel like a business short-changed you on some aspect, like if they overcharged for something or promised you a different service, call the company. If they’re no help, you can call your credit card company and sometimes they can dispute it for you.
Citi double cash is especially fantastic about this – in my experience they’ve had great customer service and assume you have no liability and will temporarily refund you while they inquire about your charge. (Obviously, if they find out the charge is expected/your fault, they will ask for the money back).
Happy Disputing(?)
