Uber credits: A guide
TL;DR: An update on getting cash back on Uber
- Credit Cards. One of the US Bank Cash+ credit card’s 5% categories is ground transportation, which includes Uber and Lyft. If you’d want to use other categories there instead, you can also opt for the Wells Fargo Propel Card which gives 3% back on Ubers, or 4.5% when redeemed for airfare if you use it in conjunction with the Wells Fargo Visa Signature.
- FreeBird. Download this app to get 250 points per ride (this is $0.5. They’ve cut it down since they started), along with $4 if you’re riding to one of it’s partner restaurants. You get $5 twice a week if you’re riding back home. Use code b2183 to get $5 on each of your first two rides!
- Samsung Pay. You can get $1 per ride in cash back through the app. (Expired as of Jan 2019: Ibotta gives $0.75 back now, and is a good alternative)
- Drop. Download the Drop Rewards app to start getting 1% back on Ubers passively and on whatever other offers you choose. Get started with a $5 bonus when you use the code 4fdwa!
- SPENT Money. Get another 1% back on Ubers (and on whatever other offers you choose) when you link your credit card to this app. Works very similarly to Drop Rewards. (Expired as of Jan 29, 2019)
- ShopYourWay. This is the Sears app, and if you connect your Uber account you get $2 in Sears credit per ride (and Uber Eats order). If you’re fast enough (or have had this account for a while), you can get free shipping on orders over $35 even if you just redeem your points (i.e. completely free stuff!).
- Uber’s own rewards system! Get $5 back for every $500 spent.
- Uber Credits. Get 5% back when you get $100 in Uber credits. Just order it off the app.
Happy Uber’ing!

P.S. If you don’t have Uber, it’s a convenient way to get around! Use code jessew6490ui to start with a free ride!
